Picking up from Level 02, Ashley, Becky and Melissa have mysteriously transformed into *cough* magical girls *cough* and defeated the evil monster, ...Buffy. As the chapter ended, we saw a shadowy figure coming out from the trees. Who could it be? And who was the strange guy who stopped Ashley from quoting Sailor Moon?!
In Level 03 our heroines meet the mysterious figure who introduces herself as Betty, the one who gave them these miraculous powers. The guy in blue is Ashiro, Betty's... umm... "Personal Assistant"... -_-;; Just when Betty's just starting to explain why she gave them their new powers (details best left to Betty's strange logic), a mysterious light transports our heroines to another world! The Digital World! So now, they're in the universe of Digimon Adventure 02 (season 2 of Digimon: Digital Monsters). We've plopped them in at a random point between episodes in DA02.
Season 2 of Digimon takes place 4 years after season 1 and has has a brand new team of Digidestined, but the older Digidestined are still major players in the story, so here is a summary of both seasons.
Digimon Adventure 01
Seven kids enjoying summer camp are suddenly and mysteriously transported to another world... the Digital World. Lost and alone, they are befriended by small digital monsters, Digimon. The kids and their Digimon quickly become inseparable, and the strange creatures guide their human friends through the wondrous Digital World, protecting them from the hordes of evil Digimon. But as they search for a way home, the children learn that there is a larger evil behind the bad Digimon, and that both the Digital World and the Real World could be destroyed. Together with thier Digimon Partners, they are the Digidestined, and it's thier job to save both worlds, but there is supposed to be an eighth Digidestined! A lot of things happen, and the eighth Digidestined, Taichi's little sister Hikari finds her way to the digital world with her partner (Gatomon/Angewoman). Working together, the Digimon and the eight Digidestined children battle evil forces to save the Digital World as well as the real world and make their way home.
Digimon Adventure 02
4 years after the defeat of Apocalymon, dark powers begin to rise again in the Digital World. The 'Digimon Kaiser', a human boy (Ken Ichijouji), is on a campaign to enslave all Digimon. He controls Digimon using his own digital creations, the Dark Rings, and later, the Dark Spirals; and his Dark Towers prevent digimon from evolving. A new team of warriors must come together to restore peace. A new kind of Digivice finds it's way into the Real World, appointing new Digidestined - Daisuke, Miyako, and Iori - as well as reappointing the two youngest from the previous season - Hikari and Takeru. With help from the old Digidestined and the Digieggs (that allow the new Digidestined's partners to evolve despite the Dark Towers), they work together to stop the Digimon Kaiser and restore peace. Ken turns good, at it is revealed that he is among the new set of Digidestined, just as a real evil once again rears it's head in the Digital World, threatening to destroy everything... again.
